HC Deb 06 February 1930 vol 234 c2073
78. Mr. McSHANE

asked the Minister of Health if he will state the total number of prosecutions for the sale of impure milk for England and Wales during 1928?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The information asked for by my hon. Friend is not available, but I may say that the total number of samples of milk reported as adulterated or net up to standard in 1928 was 5,542, being 8.2 per cent. of the samples examined.

Dr. DAVIES

Is that an increase on previous years?

Mr. GREENWOOD

Not that I am aware of.

Mr. GUINNESS

Were these samples taken at random or were they samples taken with a view to evidence being obtained for prosecutions?

Mr. GREENWOOD

No, broadly speaking they were samples taken at random.
