§ 85. Mr. BOWERMANasked the Minister of Health whether, in the event of abnormal damage being caused by gales or otherwise to housing estates under assisted schemes, he will bear the cost of reinstating the damage or will take such other measures as may be deemed expedient to prevent such additional expense falling on the local rates, regard being had to the fact that the Government, by accepting responsibility for insuring such properties, has precluded local authorities from covering this risk by means of insurance?
§ Mr. GREENWOODAll expenditure necessarily and properly incurred in respect of houses in an assisted scheme under the Housing Act of 1919 is borne by the Exchequer, subject to the charge of 1d. on the local rates.
