HC Deb 03 December 1930 vol 245 cc2204-5
24. Mr. D. GRENFELL

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the fact that the Wakamba have a claim to the one-mile strip along the Kenya railway between Sultan Hamid and Athi River, the Government of Kenya proposes to include it in the Wakamba reserve; and whether the possibility has been considered, if the Wakamba need more land, of extending their reserve so as to include the Yatta plateau?

Dr. SHIELS

My Noble Friend is asking the Acting Governor of Kenya to furnish a report on the points raised in my hon. Friend's question.

Mr. FREEMAN

In view of the conflicting claims of these tribes, would it not be possible to get a neutral area and so obviate the risk of further difficulties?

Dr. SHIELS

This matter is being gone into and the point which the hon. Member brings forward shall be considered.
