HC Deb 03 December 1930 vol 245 c2195
68. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Soviet subjects are at present in this country whose permits will shortly expire; whether any have applied for an extension of time; whether he proposes to extend any of these permits; and whether they will be subject to any conditions?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Short)

The first part of this question could not be answered without an examination of individual files, which would entail work which my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary does not think would be justified. Every application for an extension of time is carefully scrutinised and if an extension is granted the alien continues to be subject to a time condition.
