HC Deb 01 December 1930 vol 245 c1796
67. Mr. SMITHERS

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he will stop all quarrying near Hadrian's Wall until such time as the legislation he contemplates becomes law?

Mr. LANSBURY

I can usefully add nothing to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member for Cambridge University (Sir J. Withers) on 1st August last.

Mr. SMITHERS

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that quarrying is going on to such an extent that when his legislation comes it may be useless?

Mr. LANSBURY

I think that the hon. Member is talking about something with which he is very insufficiently acquainted.
