HC Deb 29 April 1930 vol 238 cc23-4
31. Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Secretary of State for War why officers of Territorial units, both inside and outside London, who attend camp are now to be deprived of pay and allowances?

Mr. SHAW

I am not sure to what the hon. and gallant Member refers. At annual camp officers and men will, of course, receive their pay and allowances in accordance with the regulations. So far as attendance at week-end camps is concerned, under the regulations the decision rests with the General Officer Commanding, who has to meet the cost of such pay and allowances as he may authorise from the fixed sum allotted to him for the training of Territorial troops in his Command. Attendance at these weekend camps is entirely optional.
