asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office what is the statutory time following discharge during which records of payment are kept in the case of men who have served in the Army?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Shinwell)

The period prescribed in the Schedule submitted to Parliament in February, 1923. in accordance with the Public Record Office Act, 1877, for the retention of this class of document is three years.

Are any of these documents kept, or are all the records destroyed?

I understand that documents of this class are destroyed after the stipulated period.
