HC Deb 14 April 1930 vol 237 c2643
91. Rear-Admiral BEAMISH

asked the Minister of Transport whether any new arrangements are being considered for the introduction of the one-way working traffic system in the immediate district surrounding Covent Garden, with a view to relieving the congestion of traffic in the neighbourhood of Covent Garden market?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

No new arrangements are under consideration for the introduction of one-way working in the immediate district surrounding Covent Garden, as under existing conditions it would not appear practicable to effect any improvement thereby.

Rear-Admiral BEAMISH

Does the hon. Gentleman realise that the obstruction to traffic is increasing day by day, and cannot he do something to relieve this state of congestion?

Mr. MORRISON

I am aware of the difficulties, and I shall be willing to consider representations from the hon. and gallant Member or others.
