HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 cc308-9
9. Sir. A. POWNALL

asked the Minister of Labour whether she is now in a position to state the intentions of the Government with regard to the in- tended ratification of the Washington Convention?

12. Sir NICHOLAS GRATTANDOYLE

asked the Minister of Labour when it is proposed to introduce the Measure giving effect to the Washington Hours Convention?

Miss BONDFIELD

I would refer the hon. Members to the statement made by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the 29th October. I hope to introduce the Bill at an early date.

Captain Sir WILLIAM BRASS

Will the right hon. Lady say whether this is going to be unconditional or with reservations?

Sir A. POWNALL

Will it be introduced before Christmas, as far as the right hon. Lady can tell?

Miss BONDFIELD

I certainly hope that it will be.
