HC Deb 14 November 1929 vol 231 cc2202-3
44. Mr. SMITHERS

asked the President of the Board of Education when he expects to receive the programmes of the local education authorities for 1930–33?

Mr. MORGAN JONES

My right hon. Friend has already received a certain number of these programmes, and he hopes that the remainder will be ready for submission by the end of next month. My right hon. Friend has informed the authorities in Circular 1404 that if there is any likelihood of delay in settling the full three-year programme, he will be willing to accept a partial and preliminary programme or to approve proposals submitted in advance of the programme.

Mr. SMITHERS

When the right hon. Gentleman receives these programmes, will he then be able to arrive at an estimate of the increased cost caused by the raising of the school age; and, further, will he be so good as to let me know when he receives them, so that I can put down a question as to the in-creased cost?

Mr. JONES

The hon. Member can put down a question at any time.
