§ 49. Mr. KELLYasked the Prime Minister if the Committee set up to deal with the experiences of the last election will have in its terms of reference the institution of a method by which blind people may be able to vote by secret ballot, seeing there is a plan prepared which would enable this to be carried out?
§ The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)This is not one of the matters which it is contemplated would be dealt with by the Conference.
§ Mr. KELLYWill the right hon. Gentleman consider adding this to the terms of reference so that these people may have an opportunity of voting secretly without trouble in the country districts?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am afraid that it is quite impossible. This Com-mission, or Committee, has been appointed for a very specific purpose. It is quite true that it is in relation to voting, but under that all questions can-not possibly be included.
§ Mr. HORE-BELISHAWill the Government make some alteration of the present law in this respect? I suppose the Prime Minister is aware of the feeling in regard to the matter.
§ The PRIME MINISTERI am perfectly aware of it. I think the Government will have plenty of time before another necessity arises of considering the matter.
