HC Deb 12 November 1929 vol 231 cc1712-3
38. Mr. GRAHAM WHITE

asked the Secretary of State for War if it is his intention to introduce new conditions for recruiting the reserve of officers from the ranks of school officers' training corps; and, if so, will he state the nature of them?

Mr. SHAW

Certain proposals are at present under discussion with the educational authorities, but their consideration must necessarily take some time. The matter is one with which I hope to deal in my speech on next year's Estimates.

Mr. MANDER

Will one of the conditions for enrolment in the Officers' Training Corps be that they shall only be on a purely voluntary basis?

Mr. SHAW

I think the hon. Member must take the answer that I gave, which is that that question is receiving consideration, and I Hope to deal with it after consideration.
