HC Deb 12 November 1929 vol 231 cc1702-3
24. Captain E. N. BENNETT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the suspension of the liquidation of ex-enemy property as from 31st August last applies to the property of Austrian as well as German nationals?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

The suspension of the liquidation of ex-enemy property as from 31st August last was a measure adopted in connection with the Conference at The Hague, and related only to German property. Negotiations are, however, now proceeding between the representatives of the British and Austrian Clearing Offices, which may result in an agreement with the Austrian Government for the cessation of liquidations of Austrian property, and as a preliminary measure these liquidations have now been suspended.
