§ 51. Mr. BUTLERasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can give the House any statistics or information as to the extent of unemployment in rural areas?
§ Mr. N. BUXTONNo statistics are available as to the extent of rural unemployment, but I receive periodical reports from the Ministry's local officers in regard to the position amongst agricultural workers. The latest information received indicates that there is a certain amount of unemployment amongst casual 1524 workers and also—to a lesser extent—amongst regular workers in certain districts.
§ Sir H. CROFTIs it not likely that unemployment will be increased unless the right hon. Gentleman takes active steps to prevent the importation of bounty-fed cattle?
