HC Deb 11 November 1929 vol 231 c1531
71. Captain CAZALET

asked the Post master-General whether he intends taking any steps to prevent the entry into this country of philatelic journals from abroad containing illustrated advertisements of postage stamps, which illustrations it is prohibited by law to circulate in this country?

Mr. VIANT

I do not see any sufficient reason for altering the existing practice of admitting into this country philatelic journals from abroad containing illustrations of postage stamps provided the illustrations are in black and white only.

Captain CAZALET

Will the Post master-General give publishers in this country the same rights of publishing these illustrated stamps as they apparently give to foreigners, as the present law acts against publishers in this country?

Mr. VIANT

I understand the hon. and gallant Gentleman has already on a previous occasion been supplied with the reasons for the Department being unable to accede to his request.
