Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGEasked the President of the Board of Education if he will consider the providing of adequate playing-ground accommodation for children in rural and urban areas, having in view the Government's announcement that they will compulsorily raise the school age to 15; whether he considers that adequate supervision of children is necessary in the playing-grounds during their playtime; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take?
§ Sir C. TREVELYANI am fully alive to the importance of adequate play grounds and playing-fields, and I have in mind the issue of a pamphlet containing suggestions for the guidance of local authorities in this matter. The super vision of the children on the play-ground or playing-field is a matter for the local authority, and I have no reason to think that it presents any special difficulty.
