HC Deb 06 November 1929 vol 231 cc1044-5
57. Mr. MARJORIBANKS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state what action is contemplated, if any, to give effect to the recommendations of the recent Cotton Commission in Uganda?

Mr. LUNN

The Report of the Commission is still under consideration by the Government of Uganda. As an interim measure an Ordinance has been enacted in the Protectorate under which the approval of the Government is required for increasing the ginning capacity of any existing ginnery; but I am not in a position to indicate when it will be possible to come to decisions regarding the major recommendations made in the Report.
