HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 c576
5. Mr. MILLS

asked the Secretary of State for India if his attention has been called to the discrimination in the Indian ordnance factories; whether he is aware that men holding responsible positions as foremen are required to pay their own fares and that of their families when coming home on leave, whilst other employés in the same service at higher pay and emoluments are granted free passages for themselves and their families; and whether he will take steps to remedy this grievance?

Mr. BENN

I am aware that dissatisfaction over this matter exists. It has already been engaging the attention of the Government of India, and I have asked them by telegraph when I may expect their views.
