asked the Prime Minister whether he contemplates introducing legislation to enable trustees of the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery and the Tate Gallery to loan their possessions overseas in accordance with the Report of the Royal Commission, Command Paper 3401?

I am not yet in a position to make an announcement on this subject, but the recommendation of the Royal Commission is being considered in consultation with the trustees of the institutions concerned.
