Mr. MORLEY

(by Private Notice) asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is now in a position to announce the names of the members and the terms of reference of the proposed Committee of Inquiry into Finance and Industry.

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Philip Snowden)

Yes, Sir. The Committee's terms of reference will be: To inquire into banking, finance and credit, paying regard to the factors both internal and international which govern their operation, and to make recommendations calculated to enable these agencies to promote the development of trade and commerce and the employment of labour. The members of the Committee are:—

  • The Right Hon. H. P. Macmillan, K.C., Chairman.
  • Sir Thomas Allen.
  • Mr. Ernest Bevin.
  • The Right Hon. Lord Bradbury, G.C.B.
  • The Hon. R. H. Brand, C.M.G.

  • Mr. Lennox B. Lee.
  • Mr. Cecil Lubbock.
