HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 cc601-2
37. Mr. HANNON

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether any representations have been made to him respecting the proposed meeting of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Empire in London next May; and if any special facilities will be provided by His Majesty's Government to enable delegates to see as much as possible of British industrial enterprise while they are in this country?

Mr. GILLETT

I am aware that it is proposed to hold a Congress of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Empire at the place and date stated, but no representations have been made to my Department on the subject by the body responsible. My Department will, if desired, gladly consider co-operation with the organisers of the Congress, to ensure that the delegates from overseas receive every opportunity to acquaint themselves with the possibilities of industry in this country.

Mr. HANNON

Will the hon. Gentleman make an intimation to that effect to the Chambers of Commerce in this country?

Mr. GILLETT

Yes, Sir.
