HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 cc589-90
31. Viscount ELMLEY

asked the Minister of Pensions whether the artificial-limb fitting centre now situated at Norwich will be transferred to Cambridge?

The MINISTER of PENSIONS (Mr. F. O. Roberts)

Transfer of the centre referred to in due course is contemplated, Cambridge being the most central and convenient point in the area supplied by this centre.

Viscount ELMLEY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that, as it is, there are many people living in remote parts who find it very hard to get knowledge and that this difficulty will be increased very seriously if this centre is removed to Cambridge?

Mr. ROBERTS

No, I am not aware of the difficulty. The information given me is that the attendance at the Norwich centre has dwindled down and necessitates only two sessions a week, which is less than one day's work.

Mr. ERNEST BROWN

Will the right Gentleman consult his colleague the right hon. Gentleman the Member for North Norfolk (Mr. Noel Buxton) on the point before he settles this matter?

Mr. ROBERTS

I shall be glad to consult anybody who can help in the matter.
