HC Deb 06 May 1929 vol 227 c1949
The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

I beg to move: That, for the purpose of concluding the Business of Supply for the present Session, Thirteen days shall be allotted under Standing Order No. 15 for the consideration of the annual Estimates for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Civil Services, including Votes on Account; and, as respects the present Session, that Standing Order shall have effect as if in paragraph (7) of that Standing Order the Twelfth day were substituted for the last day but one of the days so allotted, and as if in paragraph (8) of that Standing Order the Thirteenth day were substituted for the Twentieth day so allotted. In moving this Motion, I have only one observation to make. It is the natural corollary to the statement which I made in the House on 24th April, when I indicated the various dates in connection with the Prorogation and so forth, and stated that we desired to give all the time available to Supply and that it would be necessary to move a Motion before the end of the Session to give effect to these 13 days, and to make it possible to have the final Divisions on Supply on the Committee and Report stages on the two nights before the Appropriation Bill is taken. As no exception was taken at the time to the appropriation of time which I then indicated, I hope that this Motion may commend itself to the House without long discussion.

Question put, and agreed to.
