asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is calculated to be the net gain to the counties of Sutherland and Shetland under the Governments de-rating scheme?

The net gain to the County of Sutherland, on the basis of the 1927–8 rates, is estimated at 56d. per head of the population, equivalent to a sum of approximately £4,158. The corresponding figures for Zetland are 76d. per head of population and a sum of £8,081.
