HC Deb 27 March 1929 vol 226 c2416
18. Mr. KELLY

asked the Minister of Health the number of men, women, and young persons insured under the National Health Insurance Act at the end of 1928?

Sir K. WOOD

The number for Great Britain is estimated to be 16,950,000, of whom 11,550,000 are men and 5,400,000 are women. These numbers include 790,000 persons who, having reached 65 years of age, have ceased to pay contributions under the Act and to be entitled to sickness and disablement benefits.
