§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSTen women clerks are being temporarily employed on work connected with the returns of employment under the Factory Acts. They receive the rates of remuneration fixed for temporary women clerks, according to the grade in which they are placed. The nature of the work is such that it would be given to women writing assistants if of a permanent character, and it is the usual practice to employ temporary women clerks on writing assistants' work if of a temporary character.
