HC Deb 21 March 1929 vol 226 c1845
65. Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Minister of Transport what number of railway and canal bridges in Great Britain are in need of reconstruction owing to inadequacy to carry modern traffic?

Captain WALLACE

My right hon. Friend regrets that these figures are not at his disposal. A register of bridges is in course of preparation with the object of obtaining this information; but the work entails an exhaustive survey, which must take a considerable time to complete.
