HC Deb 20 March 1929 vol 226 cc1728-9
30. Mr. LUNN

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that no public telephone facilities are provided on the new Middleton Park Estate, Leeds, where there are 1,400 houses, except at a hotel which is only open at certain hours; and if he will arrange for a telephone kiosk to be placed in a suitable position convenient for the inhabitants?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Sir William Mitchell-Thomson)

Public telephone facilities are available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the sub-post office serving the district and urgent night calls can also be made. Telephone facilities are also available at the hotel to which the hon. Member refers between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10.45 p.m., and I am informed that urgent night calls are not refused. I am having inquiries made as to the practicability of installing a street kiosk.

Mr. LUNN

Will the right hon. Gentleman inform me of the result of the inquiries?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I will do so.
