asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the excessive speed at which mechanically propelled vehicles are allowed to swing round from Bridge Street to the Victoria Embankment; and whether he will arrange for a "Slow Down" warning notice to be placed at the junction of those thoroughfares?

I do not think that in normal circumstances motor vehicles at this street junction travel at a speed greater than is necessary to clear the traffic and to prevent congestion in Bridge Street. A "Slow Down" warning notice would adversely affect the movement of traffic in the whole of this important area. The junction is somewhat difficult for pedestrians and to obviate the necessity for crossing the road there is a subway and a notice bearing the words:
