HC Deb 20 March 1929 vol 226 c1717
34. Sir B. PETO

asked the President of the Board of Trade the total transhipments in bond of machine-made lace and hand-made lace, respectively, through this country in 1927; and how much of this was French lace on its way to the United States of America?

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

The total value of lace and net of all kinds transhipped under bond through this country during the year 1927 was £758,000, of which lace and net valued at £569,000 was in transit via Dover and Southampton to the United States. Separate particulars of the various sorts of lace transhipped under bond are not available.
