HC Deb 14 March 1929 vol 226 c1270
62. Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether it is the intention of his Department to take part in the Canadian National Exhibition at Toronto?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Herbert Williams)

I have been asked to reply. The Department of Overseas Trade has no present intention of taking part in the Canadian National Exhibition this year beyond having the usual information bureau which has been there for many years past. I may mention that numbers of British industrialists participate in the exhibition every year, some on their own account and many under the aegis of the Federation of British Industries, and the number is increasing.

63. Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether the Empire Marketing Board intends to stage an exhibit at the Canadian National Exhibition at Toronto?

The SECRETARY of STATE for DOMINION AFFAIRS (Mr. Amery)

The Empire Marketing Board have not found it possible to arrange for a repetition this year of the special display which they staged at the Jubilee of this Exhibition in 1928.

Mr. DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman state what was the cost of staging that exihibit?

Mr. AMERY

Yes, with notice.
