HC Deb 04 March 1929 vol 226 c13
38. Sir NICHOLAS GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether there has been any alteration in the duties imposed by Spain on British steel or whether the duties which would have expired at the end of the year 1928 have been continued?

Mr. HACKING

By a Decree of the 9th February the Spanish Government have favourably modified the tariff on carbon steels and special alloy steels. These tariff amendments which, I understand, are entirely acceptable to the British industry concerned, have been put into operation provisionally, pending the enforcement of the revised tariff in October next. Full details of the new Decree and of the duties on these steels which were previously in force are given in the Board of Trade Journal for 21st February, page 267.
