HC Deb 24 July 1929 vol 230 cc1273-4
17. Mr. MOSES

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether a large immediate reduction of men from His Majesty's dockyards is contemplated; and can he give an assurance that there will be no discharges during the present financial year as apart from those who may be casually employed?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. A. V. Alexander)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative; as regards the second part I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend, the Member for Central Portsmouth, on the 4th of July last (OFFICIAL REPORT, col. 248).

Is the answer in the negative as regards the immediate reduction or the large?
