HC Deb 23 July 1929 vol 230 c1057
33. Mr. EDE

asked the President of the Board of Trade the number of applications for patents that have been before his Department for three months without being adjudicated upon and the number that have been similarly before his Department for six months or more?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I assume that my hon. Friend refers to applications accompanied or followed by complete specifications in which the result of the examination has not yet been communicated to the applicant. The number of such applications which have been before the Patent Office for three months or more is 4,848; and, of these, 1,176 have been before the Office for six months or more. Applications accompanied by provisional specifications only are dealt with shortly after receipt.
