asked the Prime Minister if His Majesty's Government propose to take any steps to forward the policy of a United States of Europe:

If my hon. Friend is referring to an economic United States of Europe, his question has been answered by the reply which my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade has given to question No. 18. If on the other hand he has in mind a political union, I can only say that the difficulties in the way of the realization of this project would seem to be even more formidable than in the case of an economic union.
