HC Deb 23 July 1929 vol 230 cc1069-70
36. Brigadier-General CLIFTON BROWN

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the War Office have ceased all work on chemical warfare; and has he any information as to whether similar action has been taken by America, Germany, Italy, France, or Russia?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. T. Shaw)

His Majesty's Government have declared their intention of ratifying the Geneva Gas Protocol at an early date. In the meantime no change has been made by a departure from the research work which has been for a long time in progress. It is understood that similar research work is being carried on in the countries referred to.
