HC Deb 22 July 1929 vol 230 c881
7. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Secretary of State for India if it has yet been found necessary to re-arrest any of the released Bengal criminal ordinance prisoners who were detained so long on the ground that their release would involve danger to law and order?

Mr. BENN

No person has been rearrested under the Bengal Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, but one of the persons released after detention is now under trial at Lahore under the ordinary law.

Mr. THURTLE

May I take it that the right hon. Gentleman has drawn the obvious moral from the information which he has given to the House, and will not repeat the sins of his predecessors?

Mr. SPEAKER

That question does not arise.
