73. Mr. MACLEAN
asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been drawn to the number of accidents, 434 fatal and non-fatal, which have been caused by motor vehicles whose owners have not insured, or only partially insured, themselves against such accidents; and, if so, whether he proposes to introduce regulations which will have the effect of insisting upon full insurance before any car is registered or licensed for public or private use?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISON
I understand that the points to which my hon. Friend refers have been receiving the attention of the Royal Commission on Transport who have undertaken to present before the end of the month a report on these and other matters connected with the regulations and control of motor vehicles from the point of view of public safety. At present I have no power to make regulations of the nature referred to.
When the hon. Member has received the report will it be circulated among Members of the House?
