HC Deb 15 July 1929 vol 230 cc12-3
49. Sir GERVAIS RENTOUL

asked the Prime Minister whether he is prepared to consider the advisability of establishing a separate Ministry of Fisheries?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. J. Ramsay MacDonald)

The Government are fully alive to the importance of the fishing industry, and, while they are unable to adopt the proposal put forward by the hon. Member, I have no reason to suppose that the interests of the industry will suffer in any way in consequence.
