HC Deb 22 January 1929 vol 224 c5
10. Mr. R. MORRISON

asked the Minister of Transport if he will make a statement as to the present position of the Charing Cross Bridge scheme?

Colonel ASHLEY

Negotiations are actively proceeding between the London County Council, the Southern Railway and my Department, and various proposals have been examined. The magnitude of the scheme and the very important interests affected make prolonged investigations and negotiations inevitable. I regret that I am unable to make any statement at the present time. and I am satisfied that it is undesirable that I should do so. I can assure the hon. Member, however, that the negotiations are being pressed forward by all parties as rapidly as possible.
