HC Deb 25 February 1929 vol 225 c1543
4. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether any action will be taken on the Report of the Butler Committee before its publication?

12. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the House will be given an opportunity of considering the Report of the Butler Commission?

Earl WINTERTON

My Noble Friend must in the first place consider the report in consultation with the Government of India. Until he has had an opportunity of doing this, I am not in a position to make any further statement as to procedure.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

Will any action be taken before publication of the Report or may we take it that no action will be taken until we have had an opportunity of considering the Report?

Earl WINTERTON

I am afraid that I cannot add anything to the answer I have already given. I said that my Noble Friend was in consultation with the Government of India, and therefore no statement can be made at present.
