HC Deb 25 February 1929 vol 225 cc1555-6
28. Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he is aware that there is a concerted effort in the new Turkey, both by the Government and by the people, to develop air communications to the fullest extent; whether any Turkish orders for aircraft have been placed in this country recently; and will he, through his Department, exert efforts to secure aircraft orders from that country?

Mr. HACKING

The answer to the first and third parts of the bon. Member's question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, I have no definite information, though I understand negotiations are proceeding.

Sir R. THOMAS

Will the hon. Gentleman endeavour to obtain the information?

Mr. HACKING

I have obtained much information, which has been transmitted to the various interests concerned, and I might also add that our manufacturers are very ably represented.

Sir R. THOMAS

Is it not the case that, whenever questions are put to the hon. Gentleman in connection with trade, he is never able to give us a definite answer?
