HC Deb 18 February 1929 vol 225 c770
27. Major MacANDREW

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland during what period he will be ready to accept the representations from local authorities asked for in Command Paper 3263; and whether he can give an assurance that sufficient time will be allowed to enable informal consultations to take place between landward and burghal representatives in the different counties?

The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Sir John Gilmour)

I shall be prepared to receive representations from local authorities with regard to the provisional scheme of representation of areas on the reconstituted county councils up to the end of March. This should give sufficient time in the ordinary case for consultation between landward and burghal authorities. It is most desirable that such consultation should take place so that, if possible, agreed schemes may be submitted to me.
