HC Deb 11 February 1929 vol 225 cc28-9
49. Mr. WELLOCK

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether negotiations are taking place between the United States, Great Britain, and Iraq; and, if so, whether they are approaching a conclusion?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Godfrey Locker-Lampson)

Negotiations have for some time been proceeding between the United States, Great Britain and Iraq for the conclusion of a Convention similar to the Anglo-United States Convention regarding Palestine (Command Paper 2559), to regularise the relations between the United States and Iraq, and the status of United States citizens in that country. It is hoped that these negotiations may lead to the signature of the proposed Convention at an early date.
