§ 50. Mr. THURTLEasked the Secretary of State for Air if it is customary for the Air Force to accept recruits for service under assumed names when it is known that such names are assumed?
§ Sir S. HOAREThere can hardly be said to be anything "customary" in a matter of this kind, but it is well recog- 1770 nised that men do enlist in assumed names, for a variety of reasons, and definite provision is made in the regulations that a man who has done so may subsequently have his true name recorded by making a statutory declaration in the prescribed form.
§ Mr. THURTLEWill the right hon. Gentleman answer my question as to whether the Air Force accept a recruit when they know that he is using an assumed name?
§ Sir S. HOAREThe answer is, "Yes, they do."
