HC Deb 23 December 1929 vol 233 c1904
76. Sir KENYON VAUGHANMORGAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has inquired into the retail prices of potatoes in London and their relation to the prices secured by the growers; and whether this discrepancy is at present greater than in recent years?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. W. R. Smith)

Such inquiry as the Board of Trade have been able to make appears to indicate that the margin between the grower's price and the London retail price in the case of a popular variety of potato is practically the same as it was two years ago.
