HC Deb 23 December 1929 vol 233 cc1901-2
51. Major Sir ARCHIBALD SINCLAIR

asked the Prime Minister whether he proposes to set up a Commission to inquire into major questions of policy affecting the future administration of the Palestine Mandate, inasmuch as such questions lie outside the terms of reference to the Shaw Commission?

The PRIME MINISTER

I have seen that this proposal has been made in a letter published over influential signatures which of course command my most careful attention. There are, however, important considerations which must be carefully weighed before I decide. The subject, I ought to say, is clearly outside the terms of reference of the Shaw Commission and cannot be made a part of its report.
