§ Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCEThe present minimum rates of wages of the compositors employed by His Majesty's Stationery Office are £4 9s. for hand compositors and £4 16s. for machine compositors, in each case for a week of 48 hours. These are the standard rates of wages for compositors in London. As regards the second part of the question, no compositors were employed by the Stationery Office before the War; but the standard rates then were £1 19s. for hand compositors and £2 5s. for machine compositors for a week of 50 hours in each case.
