HC Deb 17 December 1929 vol 233 cc1201-2
59. Lady CYNTHIA MOSLEY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is prepared to recommend to the House that Members who are forced to hire taximeter cabs to get home because they are detained by Sittings of the House after ordinary means of transport have ceased to run should be accorded the same facilities for obtaining refund as departmental civil servants required to be in attendance in the official gallery?

Mr. PETHICK - LAWRENCE

The terms of the Vote under which travelling expenses of Members of Parliament are payable do not admit of the refund of expenses of the kind indicated in the question.

Lady MOSLEY

Would it not be possible for the hon. Gentleman to go into the question that I did raise in my question?

Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

Will the hon. Gentleman consider the desirability of communicating with the multimillionaires on his own side who have motor cars?
