HC Deb 17 December 1929 vol 233 c1184
11. Sir A. SINCLAIR

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is now in a position to announce the terms of the Government's land drainage scheme for the current year?

Mr. W. ADAMSON

Progress is being made with the arrangements for a new land drainage scheme and I hope to be able to make an announcement at an early date.

Sir A. SINCLAIR

Does the right hon. Gentleman not realise that farmers are being badly held up by this delay, and that manufacturers are being held up, and that they do not know how much will be available until Parliament has come to a decision?

Mr. ADAMSON

I am as well aware of the situation as the hon. and gallant Member.

Sir A. SINCLAIR

How soon shall we know what the right hon. Gentleman is going to do?
